Nagueshi Temple, located in Bandora (also known as Bandivade), near Ponda in Goa, is a revered Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Naguesh, another form of Lord Shiva. The temple holds deep historical and cultural significance, with roots that trace back centuries, making it one of the older temples in Goa.
The temple is known for its simple yet elegant architecture, which includes a deepastambha (lamp tower), a sacred water tank, and intricately carved wooden pillars. The temple’s sanctum houses a Shivalinga, and like many Goan temples, it reflects a blend of local and traditional Hindu architecture. Surrounding the temple are other smaller shrines dedicated to various Hindu deities, including Lord Ganesh and Goddess Parvati.
A unique feature of the Nagueshi Temple is the presence of an inscribed stone dating back to 1413 AD, which speaks about the donations made to the temple, signifying its historical importance.
The temple celebrates a number of festivals, including Mahashivaratri and other important Hindu occasions, with great zeal. Additionally, it is known for its serene and peaceful environment, making it a spiritual retreat for many devotees.
